Little Hands Design teaches skills at all dexterity levels – from designing, measuring and cutting, to mastering the sewing machine. For boys and girls from age 8-18years.

With a focus on ZERO WASTE design, we are using industrial waste materials kindly donated by leading fashion brands, to deconstruct and redesign thrifted clothes, and will play with unusual materials such as bicycle inner tubes and crisp wrappers. 

The course is highly experimental - fashion is not just sewing fabric... although we do that a lot, too!

Weekly Courses are Monday to Friday, 9:30am-3:30pm - £310 per week.

Tuesday Crochet Club – 5:30-7

 

We are delighted to welcome back our Lilyella, fashion designer and alumni of Little Hands Design. She can’t wait to share her love for youthful crochet design with young budding designers during this weekly yarn & crochet bonanza.

 

Get ready to explore the exciting world of crochet fashion. Alongside creating, we'll dive into other aspects of this creative field. You'll work with a variety of materials and learn techniques that will empower you to express your unique sense of style, and create loveable yarn plushies, known as Amigurumi!

 

Throughout term you will not only hone your crochet skills, but build a cool selection of handmade accessories and plushies to take home. Get ready to step into spring with a some fun yarn buddies, and a wardrobe that reflects your individuality and creativity. Students are also encouraged to ‘Customise with Crochet’ their pre-existing clothing once they have a hand on the basics.

 

If financial support is a concern, we believe in making this experience accessible to all. Please note we run a bursary scheme for low income families (evidence required) and a scholarship scheme for high ability students (with a supporting statement from their schools).

In this captivating course, you'll learn how to develop your own unique dress sense and become a responsible designer, maker and consumer. Through practical, hands-on activities, you'll dive into the world of fashion and learn how to design and make clothes and accessories. But that's not all – we'll do it all while being mindful of our impacts on the environment.

We're incredibly fortunate to have the support of leading fashion brands, who have kindly donated their industry waste materials of the highest quality. This means you'll have the opportunity to experiment and create with materials that would have otherwise gone to waste.

Throughout the term, you will become familiar with the sewing machines, essential to clothing construction. We will also explore the art of mending, altering, and thrifting, giving new life to old garments. You will learn about the life cycle of clothes and become a socially conscious influencer, making informed choices about your fashion consumption.

The class will introduce you to new technologies aimed at reducing the impact of fashion on the environment. This exciting learning opportunity is perfect for students aged 8-18 who have a keen interest in fashion and a desire to unleash their creativity in a mindful way.

If you're working towards completing your Duke of Edinburgh "skills" (from age 12+ yrs), this workshop is an excellent choice. You will not only gain valuable fashion skills but can also continue with us for your "volunteering" (from age 14+ yrs).

I had never used a sewing machine before and here I am 6 weeks later with a completed wearable kimono style jacket and I absolutely love it. Astrid's way of teaching allows for everyone else in the class to also help and share their own ways of learning. By my final class I was also able to help a fellow class mate and it was the best feeling!
